Otava's flagship bookstore and the renovation of its office headquarters were designed and completed in separate phases. Originally designed by Karl Lindahl and Valter Thomé and protected by the Finnish Heritage Agency, the refurbishment works needed to maintain the Jugendstil building's character. The Finnish Heritage Agency played a significant role in the project. The office renovation included transforming the old spaces into an open multifunctional office and updating the interior design. The previous modification of the office spaces was carried out in the 90s.
