Rõõmupesä is a daycare center for 10 groups, designed to replace an old demolished building. The new daycare’s shared spaces were designed as open learning and play areas, and the building also includes spaces intended for communal use.
The design features a structure with one underground and two above-ground floors. The building is divided into two volumes transversely: a single-storey volume on the north side housing offices, halls, a hot kitchen, and a hobby class, and a two-storey volume on the south side where the group rooms are located. The building's calm and compact form creates a cozy atmosphere and integrates well with the surrounding urban space. The spacious courtyard area around the building enhances visibility and safety. The main entrance leads visitors into a two-storey atrium at the center of the building. The design includes 10 group rooms, which are intended to be spacious and bright. The large windows of the group rooms on the south façade are shaded by a wide balcony and a roof section, which can also serve as outdoor classrooms.
