Kruunuvuorenranta new seaside area is equipped with Automated Solid Waste Collection System (AWCS by Marimatic Ltd).
The uneven terrain of the area led to the building being adapted to a steep rock slope. The functions of the building were intended to be hidden from the street, which is why the facades were designed without windows. The facade system is based on the idea of lichen growing on the surface of the rock. The structure of the lichen was vectorized into triangles, which were cast into concrete elements. The three-dimensional casting method for the concrete elements was developed during the project.
Project was granted Façade Architectural Award 2017 and awarded the Concrete Structure of the year 2017.
